As Minister for Gaeltacht Affairs and Natural Resources and Fine Gael TD for Galway West and Mayo South, I am encouraging not-for-profit arts organisations in Galway and Mayo to apply for funding under a new small capital grants scheme.
The €500,000 scheme has been launched by my Department colleague, the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humphreys TD, and is aimed at providing small capital grants to not for profit arts organisations.
Individual grants of up to €20,000 are available for arts and cultural organisations and are designed to assist with capital investment projects such as energy efficiency projects, lighting and sound equipment, heating and plumbing upgrades, seating, staging and storage, the installation of security or IT systems as well as minor building works such as window replacement.
The grant amount will cover up to 70% of the cost of works and will provide a modest boost to the local economy.
This funding is in addition to the €9 million awarded to 56 arts and cultural venues and organisations around the country earlier this year with both funding streams demonstrating the value and importance of the Creative Ireland Programme and the Action Plan for Rural Development for the arts in Galway and Mayo.
Application forms and Guidelines on Stream 3 of the Arts and Culture Capital Scheme 2016-2018 will be available on the Department’s website at: http://www.ahg.gov.ie/arts/creative-arts/grants-and-funding/
