The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed TD has confirmed to me that extra funding of €187,500 has been allocated for two harbours in Connemara. The funding represents 75% of the cost of the works and will see improvements at Lettermore and Carna.
This funding of €187,500 is in addition to €300,000 allocated for piers and harbours in Galway in April. My colleague, Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed has confirmed to has confirmed to me that the funding includes €112,500 for the slipway and pier extension at Droim, Leitirmoir and €75,000 for pier repairs and reinforcement at Céibh san Ard Thoir, Carna.
The funding will help ensure safe pier and slipway facilities which are important for leisure activities but also for the marine and fisheries industry in Connemara. The improvements to these two facilities are in addition to the funding provided in April for improvements to Bealcarra Pier, Crumpán Pier and Roundstone Pier in Connemara..
