Harbours in Galway and Mayo are to benefit from the Capital Investment Programme launched by my colleague, Minister for Agriculture and the Marine, Michael Creed.
A total of €28 million is being invested nationally under the 2017 Fishery Harbour and Coastal Infrastructure Capital Programme.
Under the Programme, €800,000 is being invested in the completion of the Small Craft Harbour at Ros an Mhíl which is one of the country’s six fishery harbour centres.
Galway and Mayo’s smaller harbours will also benefit from the €4.69 million allocation to the Safety and Maintenance fund, which includes disability access, and the €2.5 million allocation for the Local Authority Harbour Development and Marine Leisure Programme.
Applications are currently being made by Galway and Mayo County Councils under these funding schemes.
