I can confirm that ferry services to Inis Mor will resume from 5pm on Friday (2nd December).
This follows a meeting at Galway County buildings between my Department, the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Island Ferries Teo and the Chief Executive of Galway County Council.
The talks were constructive and identified a number of areas that need further consideration and discussion. Further talks between my Department, Galway County Council and Island Ferries will take place.
In the meantime, Island Ferries Teo has confirmed that ferry services will resume from 5pm (Friday) as a gesture of goodwill to the Islanders. The service will remain in place until 4th January with this date being kept under review.
I would like to thank all who attended this morning’s talks. The disruption to the service has been very regrettable but I believe the issues can, with further talks, be resolved in the longer term and we will continue to work towards that.
