National Transport Authority agree to licence 2 additional services to Moycullen, Rosscahill and Oughterard.

I can confirm that the National Transport Authority (NTA) have agreed to licence 2 additional services to Bus Eireann for the Galway to Moycullen and Oughterard routes. The NTA have confirmed that the licence will include additional services from Galway at 20.15 and 22.15, 7 days a week.

The confirmation came at my recent meeting with the Director of Public Transport Services and the Head of Public Transport Regulation Division at the National Transport Authority in Dublin. I had previously met with Bus Eireann and City Direct representatives about plans for the Moycullen, Rosscahill and Oughterard areas.

I hope Bus Eireann can ensure agreement for buses and drivers within their organisation for the services to start this Autumn. There is a demand for late evening services to Moycullen, Rosscahill and Oughterard for University and College Students, as well as for those out for the evening in Galway or working later in the evening as well. These are welcome improvements and they come in addition to an increase in the frequency of buses for the South Connemara bus route also.

It is expected that the population of the Moycullen/Oughterard area will grow in the coming years and these additional bus services will only increase in importance as this happens.
