Over €1 million has been allocated for Galway under the Town and Village Scheme. The funding for Galway was confirmed to me by my colleague at the Department of Rural and Community Development, Minister Michael Ring TD.
The Town and Village Scheme supports community initiatives and improvements in small towns and villages by funding projects which have clear social and economic benefits for communities.
The allocation of €1,004,231 for Galway is supporting 13 important projects across the county including the development and enhancement of parks, walking trails, footpaths, playgrounds, bus shelters among other community facilities.
The communities receiving funding in Galway include An Spideal, Ballinasloe, Ballygar, Ballygluin, Caherlistrane, Clifden, Clonbur, Corrandulla, Headford, Inis Mor, Loughrea, Tully, and Woodford.
This investment of over €1 million for Galway is part of an overall national fund of €21.6 million under the Town and Village Scheme which my department colleague, Minister Michael Ring has been working on.
The Scheme shows the commitment that our department, the newly-established Department for Rural and Community Development and the Government has to support rural Ireland and communities rights across the country.
