The will help the LSPs achieve their key aims which include to increase levels of participation in sport especially amongst specific target groups such as older people, girls and women, people with disabilities, unemployed people, and those who live in identified disadvantaged communities.

In 2017, a total of €5.92m will be allocated to the 29 established LSPs.

These Community Sports Development Officers will be tasked with activating local communities through a variety of means including the co-ordination of targeted programmes and education and training initiatives for clubs and communities.
