Parliamentary Question No. 124 on Thursday, 23rd June, 2011

* To ask the Minister for Social Protection if she will report on the progress of the on-line trial for claiming jobseeker’s benefit and jobseeker’s allowance in one local office of the Department since February 2011 as reported in the First Progress Report of the Implementation Body of the Public Service Agreement Croke Park Agreement; and if there are any plans to extend the on-line facility to other offices this year.

– Seán Kyne TD

The trial is continuing in one Local Office to facilitate customers submitting a claim for jobseeker’s benefit and jobseeker’s allowance on-line. There is ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the service using customer, system and officer feed- back taking place. This has informed a number of changes and enhancements to the service.

It is intended to carry out an evaluation of the service when these new changes and enhancements have been given a reasonable opportunity to bed down. In the event that the outcome of the evaluation is positive, suitable Local Offices will be selected for the extended roll-out of the service. It is anticipated that this will begin before year end. A local customer publicity campaign will accompany this roll-out.
