Following representations I’ve made to the HSE, the Primary Care Team for the West has detailed progress on filling vacant physiotherapy posts at several locations in Connemara.
The Primary Care Team for the West has confirmed to me that a new permanent physiotherapist is scheduled to start early next month as part of the Spiddal Primary Care Team. In addition, a start date of mid-June has been earmarked for a new physiotherapist for the South Connemara Primary Care Team.
In North Connemara the HSE has confirmed that the physiotherapist working as part of the Oughterard/North Connemara Primary Care Team is scheduled to return from maternity leave in September and that a post is being processed for recruitment to the Clifden Primary Care Team.
This progress is very welcome and will enable patients to receive much-needed physiotherapy in their communities or as close as possible. I understand that it is intended to start relocating services from the city to local communities on a phased basis.”
