Galway’s Tidy Towns’ groups have been allocated €62,000 as part of national funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development which oversees the competition in partnership with main sponsor, Super Valu.
While this year’s competition has been cancelled on account of the Covid-19 crisis the Tidy Towns’ groups across the city and county can still put to use the funding allocated for this year.
The funding can be used to prepare for next year’s competition or to support work that groups may undertake when restrictions are eased in the coming weeks.
Tidy Towns’ groups carry out immensely positive work on a voluntary basis and make our communities nicer places in which to live and work. I’m delighted that their work and contribution is recognised by the Government through Minister Michael Ring and the Department of Rural and Community Development.
