Government has committed €35 million to a new 40 bed community nursing unit in Clifden. Planning permission has been granted. The District Hospital has reopened and the commitment from Senior HSE Management is that it will remain open. Together with my colleague Cllr Eileen Mannion we held 2 public meetings in Clifden to show Community support for the district hospital and to show HSE that this was a much-needed facility for North Connemara.
