Yesterday, I raised concerns regarding the Bish’s omission from the 2026/27 tranche of school projects to go forward to tender/construction announced last week. Ten Galway schools were included in the list of 105 projects nationwide.

I can understand the frustration shown by the Bish community and indeed the delay now in University of Galway and Galway City Council plans for the Nun’s Island site.

It is clear from Minister Moynihan and in discussions with Tánaiste Simon Harris that additional schools can be added within the next 2 years as they reach the appropriate stage. I will continue to liaise within Government to see additional Capital funding for schools and to have the Bish allowed to go forward to tender.
